Celebrating 25 Years of Superb Music Making CD MS1077, UPC Code #681585107720
A wonderful new CD of folk-based music by Colombian composers from the internationally renowned Quintet of the Americas. This project harks back to the Quintet's first year in Bogotá when a weekly radio program inspired the group to search for local composers to commission. For the last 25 years the quintet has been treating audiences to these delightful works and now has the opportunity to make them available to listeners worldwide. The CD program includes fifteen songs and traditional dance types including pasillos, bundes, porros, paseos, and bambucos by José Abrajím Elcure, José Barros, Luis Antonio Calvo, Fulgencio Garcia, Eduardo Cadavid Angel, Jorge Olaya Muñoz, Julio Flórez and Bunde Tolimense by Alberto Castillo. The Quintet of the Americas is Sato Moughalian, Flute; Matt Sullivan, Oboe; Edward Gilmore, Clarinet; Laura Koepke, Bassoon and Barbara Oldham, French horn. Visit their website at http://www.quintet.org. Dancing in Colombia is available on the Musicians Showcase Recordings label and can be ordered directly through their website - http://www.msrcd.com/QuintetAmerica/QuintetAmerica.html .
