NEW AND RECENT SMALL CDs

image

Museum Music has just released a new CD (MM141) featuring Haskell Small as both composer and performer.

Commissioned by The Phillips Collection of Washington, D.C., this one-of-a-kind CD features Renoir's Feast - Haskell's musical celebration of Renoir's Luncheon of the Boating Party. This wonderful new work is being premiered by the composer on April 16 at The Phillips Collection (http://www.phillipscollection.org/). Drawing inspiration from the Renoir masterpiece, he has crafted a series of beautiful and moving piano sketches that flow from a river theme. The CD also contains his dramatic new recording of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition for solo piano. Visit Museum Music online at http://www.museummusic.com/.

This will join 4Tay Records release of Haskell's superb performance of J.S. Bach's The Goldberg Variations and his own 25 Preludes (which is, in part, structurally modeled after The Goldberg Variations) in the discography. The catalog number is 4Tay CD4028.

Previous 4Tay issues include Haskell's critically acclaimed CD The Twisted Pine Branch. For more information about these 4Tay disks, please visit http://www.classicalcds.net.
