The American Chamber Ensemble has announced details of its Gala Annual Music Party and very special 2004-2005 40th Anniversary concert season. On Sunday, September 26, 2004 at 3 PM, ACE will present its Annual Music Party on the 10th Floor of Hofstra University's Axinn Library in Hempstead. Special guest Stanley Drucker, principal clarinet of the New York Philharmonic will join pianist Blanche Abram, clarinetist Naomi Drucker and other members of ACE in a program of informal music making that will preview the upcoming season. Admission to the Gala Annual Music Party is by contribution only. Contribution categories begin at $25, with each category having specific contributor benefits. The American Chamber Ensemble's Long Island season opening concert, Don Quixote The First 400 Years, will be presented on Sunday, November 7, 2004, at 3 p.m. when the Music Department of Hofstra University presents ACE at the University's Monroe Lecture Center Theater on California Avenue, Hempstead. This concert is presented in conjunction with the Hofstra Cultural Center's conference of the same name. Featured pieces will include Ravel's Don Quichotte song cycle, with guest artist Chandler Carter, bass, Milhaud's Scaramouche for two pianos, Moszkowski's Five Spanish Dances for two pianos, Carlos Surinach's Quartet for piano and strings and Howard Boatwright's Quartet for clarinet and strings. The American Chamber Ensemble will return for its Seventh Annual Carnegie Hall Concert on Saturday, March 12, 2005, at 2 PM - Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, New York. Mid-America Productions presents The American Chamber Ensemble performing Albert Tepper's Trio Barocco for clarinet, violin and piano, Lukas Foss's Three American Pieces for violin and piano and three works by Peter Schickele his Quartet for clarinet, violin, cello and piano, Monochrome 3 for nine b-flat clarinets and Octet for clarinet, bassoon, French horn, string quartet and bass. Revisiting January 22, 1965 is the theme of the ACE special 40th Anniversary celebration concert on Sunday, March 20, 2005, at 3 p.m., when The Music Department of Hofstra University will once again present ACE at the University's Monroe Lecture Center Theater on California Avenue, Hempstead. Works to be presented are Mozart's Quintet, K. 622 for clarinet and string quartet, Benjamin Lees Tapestry for flute, clarinet, cello and piano (ACE 40th Anniversary Commission - Long Island Premiere) and Schumann's Quintet for piano and string quartet in E-flat Major, op. 44. Special guest artist for this concert will be Carol Feuer, violinist and founding member of the American Chamber Ensemble, who will return to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the ensemble.
