Composer Also Launches New Website Dan Locklair's Rubrics - A Liturgical Suite for Organ will be featured in a recital by Thomas Trotter on Monday, February 6, 2006 - 1 PM at Symphony Hall on Broad Street in Birmingham, England. Mr. Trotter will also present works by Mozart, Saint-Saens and Herbert Howells as part of this "Lunchtime Organ Concert". The climax of the program will be Rubrics, a spectacular 11-minute work from 1988 that has been performed many times around the world, been recorded several times and is one of the most popular tracks from Mr. Trotter's latest CD "Sounds Phenomenal" (Organ Historical Society SHCD 3). British virtuoso Thomas Trotter is the Birmingham City Organist and organist at St. Margaret's Church, Westminster Abbey and visiting Professor of Organ at the Royal College of Music, London. Mr. Locklair, a native of Charlotte, NC, is Composer-in-Residence and Professor of Music at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. His compositional output, influenced by a wide variety of traditions, ranging from Medieval to modern music, includes symphonic works, a ballet, an opera, and numerous solo, chamber, vocal, organ and choral compositions. His music has been performed throughout Europe and North America by many major orchestras, choral groups, chamber ensembles and soloists. Several of these works have received major awards, including the 1989 Barlow International Competition Award for "changing perceptions & Epitaph" and the 1996 American Guild of Organists Composer of the Year Award. Among his other honors are consecutive ASCAP Awards since 1981 and a Kennedy Center Friedheim Award.
