Saint Andrew Music Society and Lumina String Quartet Present All-Russian Concert on February 12 at Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church

The Saint Andrew Music Society of the Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church will present the Lumina String Quartet in a very special all-Russian concert on Sunday, February 12 - 3 PM at Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church, 921 Madison Ave. at 73rd St. in Manhattan.

Repertoire for this concert will be Borodin's String Quartet No. 1, Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 7, Stravinsky's Three Pieces for String Quartet and the New York Premiere of Gene Pritsker's Poem #3 for Clarinet and String Quartet, based on a painting by Andrew Meshberg.

Special guest for this concert will be clarinetist Phillip Bashor. Members of the Lumina String Quartet are Asya Meshberg (violin), Lynn Bechtold (violin), Boris Deviatov (viola), and Jennifer DeVore (cello).

Founded in 1992, the Quartet is ensemble-in-residence at Norwalk Community College. True to its name, Lumina has continued to enlighten audiences in the tri-state area and has appeared in music festivals throughout Europe and central Asia. Recent appearances include the Europe/Asia Festival 2005 in Kazan, Russia (http://www.jamesarts.com/releases/june05/LSQ_063005.htm). The quartet also presents an annual Chamber Music Institute for Young Musicians (http://www.chambermusicinstitute.org/) in addition to concert series in New York City.
