Uruguayan-American pianist Polly Ferman will present programs featuring tango and music of the Americas on Sunday, February 25 - 3 PM and Tuesday, February 27 - 8 PM, at Arts and Convocation Hall on the north campus of the University of Alberta, 114th Street and 89th Avenue in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She will also present a Master Class at the University on Saturday, February 24. The February 25 concert, "Tango Passion!!" will feature Ms. Ferman performing works by Daniel Binelli, Astor Piazzolla, Juan José Ramos, Matos Rodriguez, and Horacio Salgÿn. She will be joined by Antonio Peruch, concert accordion, violinists Aaron Au and Alicia Au, violin, violist Charles Pilon, cellist Julie Amundsen, bassist James Mallet and Mario Allende, percussion. The February 27 program, "The History of Tango: Habañeras, Milongas, Tangos" will be a Visiting Artist lecture-recital by Ms. Ferman that will feature her renowned performances and discussion of Latin American habañeras, milongas and tangos. One of the leading interpreters of the music of the Americas, Polly Ferman continues to captivate audiences with her outstanding performances of works by Gottschalk, Nazareth, Gershwin, Villa-Lobos, Ginastera and Piazzolla. Her mastery of the literature prompted The Japan Times to recognize her as "a Musical Ambassador of the Americas."
