These concerts will feature works by the outstanding composers of our continent: Jorge Cordoba, Gerardo Dirie, Jacobo Ficher, Enrique Ubieta, Gunhild Glass, Matthew Harris, Astor Piazzolla, Pedro Belisario Perez and Eduardo Grau as well as music from the Colonial Period by Juan Perez Bocanegra (Bolivia) and Jose Cascante (Colombia). This program reflects the different cultural encounters that have been taking place in the varied and rich musical expressions of the Americas from the Colonial period to the present. These "transformations" that takes place in music when "cultural encounters" occur and different cultures find each other, creating new forms by mutual influences. Suggested donation for the October 30 concert is $20 and $15. The October 21 and 29 concerts are free and open to the public.
